( InfoWorld ) - Qwest Communications International has named telecommunications industry veteran Edward Mueller chairman and CEO, replacing the retiring Richard Notebaert . Mueller, 60, has worked in telecom for more than 34 years, including stints as president and CEO of Ameritech; president of SBC International Operations; and president and CEO of Pacific Bell from 1997 to 1999.
