The FCC is under pressure to force stiffer restrictions on the satellite radio providers but Sirius and XM are likely to resist many of the proposed demands, because limits are likely to eat into the combined company's profits.

I use part of my paycheck to purchase Satellite radio services. I pay for it BECAUSE it has edgy programming. If the govt steps in and requires a bunch of not wanted channels then I will not subscribe anymore. (but that is their whole point isn't it?) The NAB lobby and the politicians they support are who want this so that satellite will fail and then they can make money again.
These bad stations can find a free home on AM radio or FM radio. (of course it doesn't make financial sense to put them there either.) If a station is good, it will make it based soley on that.
Sirius already has a gay channel and a Catholic channel. They even have a Korean channel and some latin channels some european channels, canadian channels. Why do we need any more?
Simply. I am the consumer. I pay for the service. The consumers money should dictate the programming, not the govt. If the consumers were leaving because of the lack of minority programming then I am sure they would supply it all by themselves. That's not the case though. Why is it so hard to imagine that maybe people don't want to listen to that kind of programming.
If they are forced to carry it... then the FCC should be forced to blast it throughout their offices all day. Since the programming would be so good, it shouldn't be a problem.
