Is this surrealistically absurd, or what? Here we are in the Twenty-First Century, with vibrators, cock rings, sex toys of all kinds almost ubiquitous in American bedrooms -- according to the 2005 Durex Global Sex Survey, 43% of Americans own vibrators used for sexual enhancement -- and on the evening news we see Sheriff’s Deputies putting handcuffs on grandmothers and married couples for selling the toys.
Last year, First Amendment attorney J.D. Obenberger brought a constitutional challenge to the Louisiana obscenity law on behalf of Emmette Jacob Jr., the owner of Le Video Store in St. Martin's Parish. However, Obenberger was not successful in the challenge. In October, State Judge Charles Porter ruled that the Louisiana obscenity law was not unconstitutional by virtue of being overbroad or vague. (See X-Press Report, "Community Standards Test Upheld," 10/7/05) In May, the Louisiana Supreme Court refused to hear the challenge. (See X-Press report, "State High Court Will Not Hear Challenge," 5/12/06)

I am disappointed and upset about what the FCC is allowing on the TV and radio. I'm a great-grandmother and it's appauling the words used over the waves. When I was growing up I couldn't even say sh** without getting my mouth washed out with soap. Then my mother taught me that it sounded horrible coming out of a person's mouth. After saying things I wasn't suppose to, I decided she was right and for the most part continue to choose not to say words that would offend anyone. Now those choice words are being said on radio and now over the TV. How can our morals come down so far and to not care what others think or say. God is far from their thought or cares. All who say such words or allow them to be said will one day answer to God Almighty who will judge us all. Noone cares if others are being murdered or killing babies, they just want their rights and who cares about others. I'll be glad when Jesus comes back to get those who have accepted HIM as their Saviour because this world, now our Country is going down the drains because our morals are no longer important to everyone. Shame on America and shame on the FCC. At least before you took pride in keeping things clean, but you don't anymore. I'm very disappointed in you & our Country.

I think TV commercial should be according to our culture because it directly affects our generation . It should take care of it.

The Free Speech Coalition, founded in 1993, is a nonpartisan group of ideologically diverse nonprofit organizations and the for-profit organizations which help them raise funds and implement programs. Our purpose is to protect the First Amendment rights of nonprofits and reduce or eliminate the excessive regulatory burdens they face, including the costly and duplicative fund-raising registration requirements now required in almost every state.
Im am not suprised that the Louisiana high court would pass such a law as the obscenity law. It's not like he was shoving the videos onto people. People getting arrested for selling sex toys is a slap in the face of America. As far as what is obscene is in the eye of the beholder. Just because you are offended by what's on T.V. shouldnt ruin it for the rest of America. You can change the channel. It's a choice to watch T.V. Pushing your religion onto what the rest of America watches isn't right. Your religion is your choice and I'm fine with that. God gave us the right to choose what we do and for someone to stand in judgement is not in the right but the absolute wrong. Im proud of America and it's voice, not slamming it because everyone doesnt go to my church. What people do behind their own closed doors is their own business. I'm with Acme, it is very absurd that people choice's and rights are STILL being controlled by other people that push religion on OTHER people's choices when even GOD gave us the right to choose. Parent's allow their kids to watch inappropriate material, it's not the network's fault. There was a t.v. rating system made for a reason. Try watching a little less T.V. and little more to your kids.
